The past few weeks have seen several court conflicts regarding determination of death by neurologic criteria (brain death). But even determination of death by circulatory criteria is not error free.
After a swimming accident, Vincent Fiordilino was determined dead at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. Hours later, he was found alive in the morgue. Alarmingly, body cam footage shows the attending physician dismissing concerns that the boy was still breathing.
