The University of Colorado is presenting an all-day event on April 27, 2026: "Underexplored Ethical Issues at the End of Life."
This event brings together clinicians, ethicists, and scholars to examine complex ethical questions that arise in end-of-life care but often receive limited attention in clinical training and discussion. Through a series of expert presentations, this program will explore ethical challenges related to determinations of non-beneficial treatment, physician proxy decision-making, and the uncertainty that frequently accompanies serious illness prognoses.
Speakers will also address the ethical dimensions of caring for vulnerable older adults, strategies for communicating difficult news to patients and families, and the responsibilities clinicians hold in honoring cultural and personal death rituals. Together, these discussions aim to deepen participants’ understanding of ethically grounded, compassionate care at the end of life.
