Post-Mortem Retrieval of Gametes, Safeguards for the Acquisition and Use of Anatomical Material by Non-Transplant Anatomical Organizations, and Protections for Unrepresented Donors Study Committee
Yesterday, the Uniform Law Commission held the first meeting of its new Study Committee on Post-Mortem Retrieval of Gametes, Safeguards for the Acquisition and Use of Anatomical Material by Non-Transplant Anatomical Organizations, and Protections for Unrepresented Donors. It was well organized and represented by a diversity of professional and disciplinary perspectives.
The ULC will hold a separate meeting on each of the three issues. Given my work on decision making for unrepresented patients, I will especially watch the third issue regarding when and whether organ donation can be authorized for individuals with neither FPA nor any family NOK authorization.
