Delaware Authorizes Medical Aid in Dying

The Delaware Legislature passed MAID legislation in 2024. But the then Governor vetoed it (albeit after the time for veto had passed).

This year, Delaware has a new Governor. The Legislature just again passed MAID legislation. And the new Governor has promised to sign the bill. Delaware joins 11 other U.S. jurisdictions that already authorize MAID

One late amendment was appropriately defeated. Senator Bryant Richardson proposed requiring approval by a psychologist or psychiatrist. Hawaii requires this but the evidence shows it adds no value. UCSF found the same thing and dropped this requirement at the institutional level.
