Compassionate Care Act - Video Advance Directives

A new bill in Congress, the Compassionate Care Act, would expand advance care planning education of both individuals and clinicians. It would establish advance care planning quality measures and perhaps even a national registry.

While not central to the mission of the legislation, it defines ‘‘living will’ as a written document or a video statement about the kinds of medical care or other care a person does or does not want under certain specific conditions, in the event that such person no longer is 10 able to express those wishes."

Bravo. I have argued for using video based advance directives here and here and here.

Rep. Barragan
