Dejianna Lane was shot in the head ion July 6, 2026. Within a few days, clinicians at Los Angeles General Hospital determined that she was dead on neurological criteria (brain dead). But her family contended that an error was made. And they wanted a long accommodation period than the hospital was prepared to give.
The family obtained a TRO from Los Angeles Superior Court on July 20, 2026. But on Friday, August 7, 2026, the court refused to extend it or to grant an preliminary injunction. The family's evidence was insufficient to contest the determinations of three neurologists following accepted guidelines.
