Annelise Camp - Texas Children's Hospital Transfers Dead Patient

Because the courts enjoined Texas Children's Hospital from performing brain death testing, we cannot say that Annelise Camp is dead. But the hospital strongly suspects that she is.

Annelise's parents want to continue technologic support while abstaining from testing. Texas Children's does not want to proceed in that way. So, it followed a standard element of dispute resolution in conflicts over potentially inappropriate treatment. It tried to transfer Annelise to another hospital willing to proceed in the way desired by her parents.

These transfers are difficult (though not impossible) to find. Texas Children's contacted over thirty hospitals. Now, surprisingly, it found a transferee in Louisiana.
