Use of MAID in Vermont ("Patient Choice") has increased substantially, according to a DOH report published a few days ago. 190 individuals utilized MAID over the two years from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025. This compares to 204 individuals who utilized the process in the ten years prior (May 2013 to June 2023).
Out of the total 190 who utilized MAID, 132 were Vermont residents, 56 were out-of-state residents. So, about one-third of all MAID is for non-Vermonters. But even among Vermonters, usage increased 60% (from 42/year to 66/year). Other data are consistent with historic patterns.
