Over 3 Million Koreans Opt Out of Life-sustaining Treatment

The South Korea National Agency for Management of Life-sustaining Treatment reports that over 3 million Koreans have opted out of life-sustaining treatment.

This is impressive because advance directives were only first introduced in 2018. And they are available under only narrow circumstances. Since the law took effect, life-sustaining treatment has been withdrawn in 500,000 cases.
