End-of-Life Healthcare Law, Policy, & Ethics - Conferences 2026

Here are three key 2026 conferences on end-of-life healthcare law, policy, and ethics.

International Conference on Assisted Dying and Other End of Life Care (ICEL5). This fifth ICEL congress will be Wednesday 8th April to Saturday 11th April 2026 in Brisbane, Australia. This will be an engaging program of interdisciplinary research on assisted dying in context. ICEL5 welcomes presentations illuminating empirical, ethical, legal and clinical perspectives on assisted dying and its intersection with other end of life issues. ICEL5 will be a stimulating three-day program of interest to academics, researchers, legal and health practitioners, policymakers and more. I've been to the first four. More information here.

World Federation Right to Die Conference. This 24th WFRTD conference will be in Tokyo from November 25 to 28, 2026. This congress has been convening every two years for decades. Unlike ICEL, this is more advocacy focused than academic focused. I've been to three. More information here.

American Society of Bioethics & Humanities (ASBH2026). While this meeting is not 100% focused on end-of-life healthcare ethics, that topic still comprises a big part of the largest North American meeting on bioethics and clinical ethics. This conference will be in Indianapolis from October 14 to 17, 2026. I have participated in nearly 20 ASBH meetings. More information here.
