Fifteen years ago, Bob Truog published a now widely-discussed article in the New England Journal of Medicine asking "Is It Always Wrong to Perform Futile CPR?"
This month David Korones published a similar article in the same journal. It is a powerful first person perspective on why he prescribed cancer medications that would do nothing to treat the patient's cancer. He concludes: "Looking back, I know that there was more than medicine in that little brown bag: there was hope."
