Barbara Swartz Annual Lecture - MAID in New York

I am delighted to deliver the 10th annual Barbara Swartz Annual Lecture on May 1, 2025. Register here.

This is a free event open to the public in honor of the life and memory of Barbara Swartz. Each year, End of Life Choices New York features speakers who offer engaging presentations on all aspects of the Medical Aid in Dying field.

I am teaming up with Carol Abolafia (the daughter of Barbara Goodfriend, a MAID recipient) who will offer firsthand account of a loved one’s planned, peaceful death. The focus of this year's lecture will be on setting the record straight on the principles of MAID, the bioethical tenets, and other basic information so that all New Yorkers can advocate for the passage of legislation in the New York State Assembly.

In December, I delivered this presentation for the Hemlock Society of San Diego. That one was focused on MAID and dementia. This one will focus on traditional MAID and on New York.
