Two new articles on VSED provide a nice general overview of the practice.
Cintia Pinho-Reis and Manuel Luis Capelas review clinical, cultural, and ethical aspects of VSED. As Portuguese researchers, they compare VSED to MAID which is more familiar there. They note that "VSED is remarkably understudied."
Alizoun Dickinson takes a more practical perspective, writing from the perspective of a death doula who has supported patients with VSED. Like other authors, she laments "the absence of clear guidance in the UK."
