On the other hand, if the patient has a POLST or advance directive, that does NOT mean they are DNR, You must actually read the POLST or AD to ascertain the orders or instructions.
Increasingly, nationwide, we see medical malpractice verdicts and settlements for unwanted resuscitation. And regulators are imposing civil monetary penalties (fines) for the same conduct.
