Because only 11 U.S. jurisdictions permit MAID, a growing number of patients have been moving from the other 45 jurisdictions to access MAID. Much of the attention regarding this medical tourism focuses on Oregon and Vermont. But patients relocate to all eleven MAID jurisdictions.
Sometimes this presents challenges in terms of housing. This Washington Post story describes a growing number of services where individuals or entities offer no-cost or low-cost housing for patients who relocate for MAID. Many of these services (like A Sacred Passing in Seattle) also support patients who VSED.
