Deciding on Death: Rodriguez, Carter, and Medically Assisted Dying in Canada

Last weekend, I finished an advance copy of by Deciding on Death: Rodriguez, Carter, and Medically Assisted Dying in Canada by Kent McNeil and Wayne Sumner.

As the title suggests, this is a deep dive into the Carter and Rodriguez cases. But it is much more than that. The Supreme Court of Canada did not act in a vacuum. McNeil and Sumner provide essential broader context of other legal developments from around Canada and from around the world. Here is the blurb I gave to the publisher:

"McNeil and Sumner masterfully map 35 years of motley forces shaping Canadian MAID jurisprudence. This volume not only delineates the complete legal history of MAID in Canada but also comprehensively integrates influential international developments in end-of-life decision making."
