Advance Directives - Eliminating More Pregnancy Exclusions

I have blogged several times (e.g., here and here) about a trend of states removing pregnancy exclusions in advance directive statutes and forms. Washington may be the next state to eliminate restrictions on how pregnant patients may direct their treatment after losing capacity.

S.B. 5096 and H.B. 1215 would strike this current language from the state's model directive form:

If I have been diagnosed as pregnant and that diagnosis is known to my physician, this directive shall have no force or effect during the course of my pregnancy.
