Readers will have already noticed a markedly increased number of films on end of life and MAID in their streaming services. These include documentaries like Liz Carr's Better Off Dead and the series Take Me Out Feet First. More dramas are also on the way.
In They Will Be Dust, the main character and her husband plan a trip to Dignitas in Switzerland. Many scenes are actually filmed there. (Trailer)
In His Three Daughters, three women, as a WSJ review puts it, "keep vigil ... and attend to the procedural details of imminent death, from securing a do-not-resuscitate order and writing an obituary to meeting with their dedicated hospice worker." (Trailer)
A great movie/documentary: JACK HAS A PLAN.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful book, IN LOVE; a Memoir of Love and Loss, by Amy Bloom
Her last trip with her husband to Switzerland, Dignitas, as they cope with his diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.
Another book I liked: CHOOSING A GOOD DEATH AFTER A LONG LIFE, by Samuel Harrington, MD
THERE AT THE END: Voices from Final Exit Network. A book sharing a "collection of first-person accounts, as patients come to terms with end of life decisions for themselves and their loved ones. It also shares experiences of FEN's specially trained volunteers."
