BBC One will air a four-part series called Best Interests. The series tells the story of a married couple fighting for their daughter's right to continue getting treatment, despite the medical conclusion that it would be in the best interests to let her die.
The medical team concludes that the daughter's illness is such that she should be allowed to die to prevent long-term suffering. But her family objects and feel that she should be allowed to continue to live.
The ordeal becomes a court case, with her family fighting a legal process against the idea that it would be more ethical for treatment to end.
The series is based on the many pediatric futility cases that have come before British courts over the past few years - Archie Battersbee, Alfie Evans, Charlie Gard, Alta Fixsler, and many more.
