Alain Cocq Abandons VSED / FVNF / Sterbefasten

Voluntarily stopping eating and drinking (VSED) can be a comfortable and peaceful way to hasten one's death. One usually dies within 10 to 14 days. But while not essential it is important to have support from experienced palliative care clinicians.

Apparently, Alain Cocq started VSED without this support in place. Consequently, he did not proactively address discomfort and 

abandoned the plan. On September 7, Cocq agreed to be re-hydrated at Dijon University Hospital, where he was admitted after three and a half days of VSED.
