Police Forcibly Drag Parents from ICU in Medical Futility Conflict over 6-Year-Old Zainab Abbasi

Last August, Zainab Abbasi was suffering from the rare genetic illness Niemann-Pick disease. She was critically ill and clinicians had just informed her parents (themselves NHS physicians) that they had decided to remove life-support and allow her to die.

Typically, these conflicts go to court. But Zainab died before the scheduled hearing. What makes this case unique is the violent scuffle in the ICU. And it was all captured on film. Northumbria Police forcibly removed Zainab's father Rashid after he refused to leave his daughter.

The story is well-covered by ABC Radio which frames this as anti-Muslim.
