Federal Legislation Would Mandate Disclosure of Pediatric Medical Futility Policies

Conservative Republican Utah Senator Mike Lee has introduced legislation (S.3138) that would require hospitals to disclose their pediatric medical futility policies.

An increasing number of states (like Arizona, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota) have already specifically required this over the past several years when they enact Simon's Law. Several other states require disclosure pursuant to broader laws. Senator Lee's bill, if passed, would require it nationwide.
