Nurse Gets Probation for Failing to Follow POLST

The Connecticut Department of Public Health has placed a nurse on probation for failing to follow a POLST. The nurse must also attend and successfully complete coursework in Advance Directive policies, procedures and practice standards.

A Resident of the facility had an Advanced Directive and a POLST which included CPR. The nurse failed to timely initiate CPR on Resident when Respondent became aware that Resident was pulseless and without respiration.

The same nurse, Stacey Thompson, has apparently just been arrested for stealing pain medications from residents.
