NBC Left Field has published a wonderful documentary on Taquisha Mckitty and the brain death debate.
Perhaps the greatest value of this documentary is getting the viewer a sense of the life and motivation of the family – their home, their church. Too often, we hear from the family only through their lawyers or in protest videos. This video makes them more human and rational.
Apart from the family perspective, we get to see a brain death clinical exam and a tremendously lucid interview with Bob Truog that briefly describes the medical/ethical debate.
It appears the documentary is implying that brain death is socially acceptable as human death in a Godless society, where Medics are authorized to have the full power to decide who is alive and who is dead.
