Virginia Enacts Medical Futility Law

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has signed H.B. 226. This legislation establishes a process similar to that in Texas, whereby a physician may cease to provide health care that has been determined to be medically or ethically inappropriate for a patient. The law is effective July 1, 2018.
