Last week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a legislative special session that will begin on July 18th, 2017.Among the items included on the special session call is "strengthening patient protections relating to do-not-resuscitate orders." This is presumably a reference to H.B. 2063 supported by Texas Right to Life.
Great googly moogly. I left hospice to work in the hospital environment and it's already incredibly difficult to allow a patient to refuse CPR. The out of hospital DNR does not apply in the hospital and every time a patient goes into the hospital a new hospital-specific one must be completed. It's completely draconian.
