Earlier this month, the Baptist General Convention of Texas held a statewide Christian Life Conference under the theme, Faith, Science, and Ethics. The conference brochure promised "helpful and hopeful insights regarding appropriate and constructive relationships between faith and science and critical ethical issues upon which these relationships weigh heavily."Allen Verhey, Professor of Christian Ethics at the Duke Divinity School made a vivid and insightful presentation relating to futility issues: The Contribution and Limits of Science for Care at the End of Life.
