Baby Miracle to Get Treatment in Miami

Miracletina Nanai (aka Baby Miracle) is a severly disabled Samoan baby girl. According to USA Today, she has "missing eyeballs and fingers, deformed feet and spinal cord, a partial brain and a double cleft palate."

After her birth, Miracletina's family faced two futility disputes. First, doctors in Samoa advised them not to feed Miracletina because her "malformed nose and mouth prevented her from suckling. " But the baby's parents fed her using a plastic syringe.
Later, Miracletina's parents were denied a visa to seek treatment in New Zealand because medical treatment would raise false expectations as "medical experts there concluded there was no treatment that would benefit the baby's quality of life."
But Miracletina is apparently now in Miami for treatment. She secured the necessary visas and the necessary funding for travel. Top surgeons at Miami Children's Hospital have offered their services for free.
