Medical Aid in Dying in Montana
Montana clinicians have been providing MAID for over a decade, since the state supreme court declared there were no legal obstacles. Since 2009, legislators have tried to legislatively overrule the supreme court and prohibit MAID.
Now, we have a bill that would enact a statute like the other ten MAID jurisdictions. The Montana Patient and Physician Protections in Care Act would specify eligibility requirements and safeguards common in other state's statutes and bills.
