Brain Death Conflict in Arizona Court - Ruben Vati

On September 15, clinicians at HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center in Phoenix diagnosed 26-year-old Ruben Vati dead on neurologic criteria. He had been admitted for a drug overdoes on September 11. 

 But his family does not believe or accept the diagnosis.  Both the family and the OPO have filed lawsuits. A judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the Donor Network of American and the hospital from removing Ruben's organs. (Maricopa County, Ariz. No. CV-2019-054426).

    R.i.p. Ruben.I'm glad your at peace now. You made a beautiful choice in donating your organs so others can live. I just wish you could've stayed longer. God bless you n may God keep you in his warm embrace

    This story should be a wake up call for those who are signing to be donors without being informed about what they are signing for .

    I am not sure if Ruben knew when signing up as a donor, what it means to donate organs when declared as brain dead!

    Wrong wrong wrong. He did not chose to give away his organs. He changed his mind soon after he renewed his Driver License but had no time to renounce his decision. There is no proof of "brain dead" diagnosis here. And his family was removed by force from Hospital, by Organ Donor Nerwork.

    I am sorry to hear that the family were removed from hospital by force especially being denied to be with their loved one at the close of life.
    It is vitally important that people to be well informed about how death is declared before signing up to be organ donors.
